WHO WE ARE

“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind” Matt 22:37

Our Story

We stand for Lives Changed By Christ

Our congregation started with a mission to be and look like the New Testament church and people of the book.

Our congregation started with a mission to be and look like the New Testament church and people of the Book. From the very beginning, we have been committed to restoring the simple, powerful faith and practices of the early church as revealed in Scripture.

We strive to worship in spirit and in truth, to live in loving fellowship with one another, and to carry out the Great Commission with urgency and compassion. Rooted in God’s Word, we aim to be a community that reflects Christ’s teachings, walking in His footsteps and seeking to be a light to the world.

What We Believe

We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God. We are commanded by the scriptures to be obedient to the teachings of Jesus. We stand firm in the knowledge that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God died for the sins of mankind. To become a member of the church one must be willing to hear and believe God’s Word, turn from the sinful ways, publicly confess faith in Jesus Christ, and be baptized for the remission of sin.

  • ABOUT GOD

At Bryan Church of Christ, we believe in the one true and living God who is eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, and unchanging. He is the Creator of the heavens and the earth, and everything in them. God exists in three distinct persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—working in perfect unity.

  • ABOUT HUMANITY

At Bryan Church of Christ, we believe that all people are created in the image of God, with inherent value, dignity, and purpose. God formed humanity with the unique ability to think, choose, love, and have a personal relationship with Him.

However, through sin, humanity broke that perfect relationship. The Bible teaches that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Sin separates us from God and brings spiritual death, but it does not remove God’s love for us.

Because of His great mercy and grace, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem humanity and restore us to Himself. Every person has the opportunity to be reconciled to God through faith, repentance, confession, baptism, and a faithful life in Christ.

We believe that while we are all broken by sin, we are also all deeply loved and invited into a new life through Jesus. In Christ, we are made new—called to live as His workmanship, created for good works, and to reflect His character in every area of life.

  • ABOUT SALVATION

At Bryan Church of Christ, we believe that salvation is a gift of God’s grace, made possible through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Humanity, separated from God because of sin, is in desperate need of redemption—and Jesus is the only way to be saved (John 14:6).

Salvation is not earned by good works but received through obedient faith (Ephesians 2:8-9; James 2:17). God calls all people to respond to the gospel message by:

Hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17)

Believing in Jesus Christ as the Son of God (John 3:16; Mark 16:16)

Repenting of sin (Acts 2:38; Luke 13:3)

Confessing faith in Jesus (Romans 10:9-10)

Being baptized into Christ for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38; Romans 6:3-4; 1 Peter 3:21)

Living a faithful life of discipleship (Revelation 2:10; Titus 2:11-14)

Through baptism, we are united with Christ, clothed in Him, and added to His church. We receive the indwelling gift of the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to grow, serve, and remain faithful.

Salvation brings not only the hope of eternal life in heaven but also a new identity, a new family in the church, and a new mission to live for God’s glory.

  • ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT & THE CHURCH

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead—fully divine and actively working in the world today. The Holy Spirit was present in creation, empowered the prophets and apostles, and was poured out on the church at Pentecost (Acts 2).

The Holy Spirit dwells within every baptized believer (Acts 2:38; 1 Corinthians 6:19), serving as a seal of our salvation and a guarantee of our inheritance in Christ (Ephesians 1:13-14). He strengthens, comforts, and guides us into all truth through the inspired Word of God (John 16:13).

The Spirit produces spiritual fruit in our lives (Galatians 5:22-23), equips us with gifts to serve the body (1 Corinthians 12), and helps us grow in holiness, Christlikeness, and boldness in our faith.

We believe the Holy Spirit works in harmony with God’s Word and never contradicts it. His power is essential in transforming lives and empowering the church to fulfill its mission.

What We Believe About the Church

At Bryan Church of Christ, we believe the church is the body of Christ, the family of God, and the called-out assembly of believers. It was established by Jesus Himself (Matthew 16:18) and came into being on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2).

The church is not a building—it is a spiritual body made up of baptized believers who have been added by the Lord (Acts 2:47). Christ is the head of the church (Colossians 1:18), and we are members of His body, each with a role to play in serving, encouraging, and building one another up (Ephesians 4:11-16).

We strive to be the church of the New Testament—worshiping in spirit and truth (John 4:24), teaching sound doctrine (Titus 2:1), observing the Lord’s Supper (Acts 20:7), giving cheerfully (2 Corinthians 9:7), praying faithfully (1 Thessalonians 5:17), and living in unity and love.

Our mission as the church is to glorify God, spread the gospel, nurture spiritual growth, and serve others. We are called to be a light in the world, pointing others to the hope we have in Christ.

  • ABOUT THE BIBLE

What We Believe About the Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17). It is God's complete and final revelation to humanity, given through the Holy Spirit to chosen men who wrote as they were moved by God (2 Peter 1:20-21).

The Bible consists of sixty-six books—thirty-nine in the Old Testament and twenty-seven in the New Testament—and is the ultimate standard for truth, teaching, correction, and guidance in all matters of faith and life.

We believe the Bible is sufficient—it contains everything we need to know about God's will for our salvation, worship, daily living, and hope for eternity. It is not to be altered, added to, or taken away from (Revelation 22:18-19).

At Bryan Church of Christ, we seek to follow the Bible and only the Bible. Our goal is to restore New Testament Christianity by teaching what it teaches, practicing what it commands, and being silent where it is silent. We believe that when we honor God’s Word, we honor God Himself.
